Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the traditional office space was designed to be functional. The productivity was proportional to the time that people spend in the physical office.
With work from home for most businesses and transition from traditional office to home office, managers found that the productivity was even higher than before. Many workers enjoyed flexibility and balance between work and personal life. Now many of the workers prefer to work from the office part of the week.
It is clear that the Covid pandemic will boost changes and many workers hope that will have the ability to split their working hours between the office and home for example 50/50.
If the businesses tend to retain and attract productive team members, the most important part is to think about splitting working hours.
According to statistics most of the workers during the pandemic period were able to set their own working schedule and they are expecting this trend to continue after the pandemic.
According to studies across many companies, previously people spent 70% of their working hours carrying out work tasks and 30% of their time to team up with other employees. Now, most of the employees are expecting to dedicate 70% of their working hours to remote work from home and 30% to collaborate and establish work tasks for different projects from the office.
Traditional office VS Future office space
As many offices reopen across the world, the main focus will be keeping employees safe. All organizations should find an appropriate way to build a better and more flexible future of work. In this stage, digital technology plays an important role.
Some companies completely shift to remote working permanently from home or anywhere worldwide. At the same time, the actual traditional offices will be redesigned to places for collaboration and break.
Google a years ago redefined how the office should look, airy and open. Now Google is creating a new post-pandemic office design. The employees are encouraged to be vaccinated when they will be back in the office, probably from September.
According to interior changes, Google is analyzing how “Generation Z” is socializing as an example to design their future offices. To successfully deal with the expected blend of remote and office workers, the design of meeting rooms is also changing where in-person attendees are sitting in a circle and remote workers are showing on a large vertical display.
Google also is thinking about designing the places where this is possible, an outdoor work area with tables and chairs under an open-air tent.
According to a survey in Google, about 70% of the workers are not in hurry to back to the office and they liked remote work from home where they have more time to spend with family and friends outside the office.
About 15% of the workers are neutral regarding this question and another 15% of the workers can’t wait to return to the offices.
According to the majority of the workers, work balance is not eating in the office 3 meals a day, going to the gym there, playing PlayStation, etc. There are many other things out there that we can do with family and friends. Ultimately, people want flexibility more than ever acquiring their job tasks and more time to dedicate to their family and friends.

During this period of remote work, we meet all our project deadlines, and we haven’t any issues with work tasks and implementation of projects.
We are in the process of planning when would be the best time to get back to work and with what kind of flexibility in order to meet the needs of all our employees and balance between work tasks and personal life.
